The Critical Home Repair program offers an affordable loan for home repair services in a specific area of Milwaukee. For a map of the service area, please visit our website at milwaukeehabitat.org. This loan is 0% interest and can cover up to 80% of repair project costs based on an applicant’s income. Repair costs can be paid in installments instead of all at once. Repair services include: • Porch Repair • Exterior Door Repair and Replacement • Roof, Gutter, & Chimney Repair • Broken Window Repair • Code Violations • Plumbing Hazards • Electrical Hazards • HVAC Repair • Foundation Repair • Structural Repair • Tree Hazards • Smoke Alarms • Carbon Monoxide Detectors Basic Qualifications: • Property must be owner-occupied • Household income should not exceed 80% of HUD Income Guidelines • Must be current on mortgage statements, property taxes and water bill • Applicant must not have non-medical collections over $1000, open judgments or liens, and must not currently be in bankruptcy • Willing to complete six hours of sweat equity for projects under $2500 and 18 hours for projects over $2500. (Sweat equity includes: Homeowner Financial Education, Volunteering at Habitat Events, ReStore, Warehouse and/or Construction)
