Services
The GPD provides police service and office hours 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We have 42 employees, including 31 sworn officers. We have a variety of programs to serve the public that we are particularly proud to offer. With total community funding and support, we have a K-9 unit. Our current K-9 handler is Officer Darren Von Bereghy. K-9 Hatto joined our department in 2017.
Community Policing
“Community Policing” is not just the newest fad or buzzword for the GPD. We believe in the philosophy of “getting back to basics,” working and networking with the community we police. The dedicated men and women of the GPD have developed and instructed numerous programs for our community, such as the Citizen Police Academy, Identity Theft and Internet Safety seminars, Citizens on Patrol, and an Explorer Post for youth interested in a law enforcement career. We periodically offer carry concealed weapon training classes.
