The Senior Center activities and staff focus on maintaining or increasing independence and personal growth in a safe and nurturing environment. The Center offers a person-centered approach to planning and case management. Participants are afforded opportunities for regular community integration activities including visits to sporting events, museums, restaurants, stores, fairs and fests, movies, parks; intergenerational activities; and volunteer opportunities.
The maintenance of physical well-being through self-management of activities of daily is encouraged including supervised toileting, feeding, menu planning and preparation, grooming and hygiene, and safety and health. The program offers a hot noon meal Monday through Friday with monitoring of special dietary needs. Participants explore retirement options including developing hobbies, leisure interests and occupational or volunteer activities and developing personal awareness about aging.
The program fosters the development of literacy and/or basic academic skills. Participants are encouraged to develop decision-making and problem-solving skills, self-advocacy, and social and interpersonal skills including behavioral adjustment and self-management. Transportation provided. Registration by appointments only.
