Description:

Residential services to children and youth in Washington County who come to our center due to delinquent or corrections situations, children in need of protection, and/or children who are experiencing emotional or behavioral disorders. All youth placements at the center are expected to follow a behavior-modification system that helps to create the ideal recovery environment.

A daily schedule for all those in our care incorporates attendance at a community-based school, independent living skills training, nutrition education, healthy leisure and recreation guidance, study time, structured activities and community outings.

For residential treatment placements, children receive individual, group and family therapy on a weekly basis. Our staff holds monthly treatment review meetings involving residents, family members, placing agency representatives and members of the facility treatment team. Youth residents also participate in psycho-educational group programming and may attend the facility’s alternative school for residents, which is located at the Youth Treatment Center.

In addition, we also offer an Aftercare Program that provides supplemental services to youth to ease and support their transition to home environments. Once a resident is discharged to his or her home from the Youth Treatment Center, the assigned therapist provides in-home individual and family therapy for three months to provide the parents with needed tools and skills to help make the transition successful.

The Youth Treatment Center also offers shelter care, which is a short-term, non-secure residential care and physical custody of children whose cases are pending court action. Respite care means voluntary temporary care for youth, usually on behalf of parents or regular caregivers for the purpose of providing relief.
