Individuals who are eligible for or who receive SSI may also be eligible for additional financial support intended to help them meet the higher living and support expenses related to their long-term care needs. This is the SSI Exceptions Expense Supplement or "SSI-E" -- a monthly cash benefit of up to $95.99. It is added to (included with) the State SSI payment to each SSI recipient who meets the program requirements and is certified for the benefit. -------------------
ELIGIBILITY: SSI recipients who live in their own household or another's household who pay their share of household expenses and who need at least 40 HOURS of primary long-term support services each month or ---- Recipients whose expenses are greater than the SSI-E payment level (maximum monthly income of $816.77 for an individual in 2009) and who live in one of the following licensed or certified facilities and that setting is the least restrictive arrangement able to meet their needs: Licensed or Certified adult family/foster home, CBRF of of 8 beds or less (or a CBRF that has been "grandfathered in"), Certified Residential Care Apartment Complex (RCAC). ----------- TO APPLY: Residents of Milwaukee County, age 60 and over, should contact the Aging Resource Center of Milwaukee County at 414-289-6874 to apply for SSI-E.
